King- Chavez Community High School Review

King- Chavez Community High School opened in 2009 for students in grades 9th and 10th. The school offers a college prep curriculum to ensure the success of all students. The school believes every student deserves a chance at high quality education to lead a happy and productive life.

Students at this high school are challenged with a variety of extra curricular activities, courses, and athletic programs. Those range from Mandarin, Italian, art focused courses, drama, AP classes, college prep classes and athletic programs to test students physically.

The parents of King- Chavez Community High School love the dedicated teachers, the exposure to real world learning and the college prep classes. This is a school that cares about their kids and their success explained one parent. Students are very pleased with the curriculum and stated it does make them work harder.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase from 667 to 679. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The test results at King- Chavez Community High School showed scores that were majorly lower than the state averages across every grade and subject.

The California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) is used to test 10th grade high school students’ skills in English language arts and mathematics. The students of King- Chavez were below state averages in both subjects.

Should the test scores be a concern of yours as a parent feel free to schedule a tour to learn more about the curriculum and the learning environment.
