Jacoby Creek Charter Review

Jacoby Creek Charter opened in 2002 focused on providing students in grades kindergarten through 8th grades with a curriculum that meets their needs. The school mainly works with students that are gifted or have the desire to be exceptional. The school offers a challenging curriculum as well as a variety of school events and after school enrichment programs.

Along with core subjects, Jacoby Creek Charter offers extra curricular activities, which include drawing, drama, dance, orchestra, chorus, and band. Sports available include yoga, volleyball, track, ultimate Frisbee, rock climbing, soccer, physical education classes, golf, cross-country, cheerleading, and basketball. Other programs offered are community service, academic contests, science & technology.

Most parents are very pleased with the learning environment the school offers that is safe, challenging, and nurturing. A few parents were not as happy with the school stating it is more for students with high incomes instead of the average middle class. Students expressed they enjoy the curriculum, programs, and sports.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 909 to 921. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Jacoby Creek Charter was above average in all grades and subjects with many 90% or more. Examples include 94% of 3rd graders passed math with the state average at 69% and 91% of 4th graders passed the English Language Arts exam with the average at 67%.

The school is doing an exceptional job of providing students with the educational tools needed to prepare for high school and beyond. The exam scores are excellent. If you have any worries, you should talk with teachers at the school to ensure the learning environment with fit your families needs.
