Ivy Academia Entrepreneurial Charter School Review

Ivy Academia Entrepreneurial Charter School opened in 2004 for students in grades Kindergarten through 12th. Business makes the world go round and at Ivy Academia they believe in implementing that idea even for young students. This is an entrepreneurial school.

Students are all about business here, the business of being successful at every turn of their education and career goals. The teachers focus on core subjects with business aspects added. Students can also choose classes in band, computer arts, drawing/painting, chorus, theater/drama, dance, photography, Spanish, French, Japanese, Mandarin, Hebrew, Russian, science, technology, debate, yearbook, student council, newspaper, community service, radio/video/multimedia and even participate in academic contests. Sports include football, soccer, cheerleading, basketball, baseball, and yoga and physical education classes.

Parents are pleased with every aspect of the school from the teachers to the grades to the small class sizes. Their children cannot wait to go to school and have improved in their studies since being enrolled. Some parents expressed that they are very glad the school is in their community and helping their students succeed.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase in academic growth from 846 to 862. The goal statewide is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The students at Ivy Academia Entrepreneurial Charter School showed mixed scores with their test results. Some were above state averages and some were below. For example, 8th grade Science exam results were 73% with the state at 66%. Algebra I for the same grade brought in a 40% passing rate with the state at 49%.

The California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) is used to test 10th grade high school students’ skills in English language arts and mathematics. The students here achieved 92% on the Math exam. The state was 84%. For the English Language Arts exam 94% passed, with the state average was 83%.

Ivy Academia Entrepreneurial Charter School teaches students to be business minded. If you are looking for a quality school that will prepare your child for the world of business, then the school is doing an exceptional job.
