Intelli-School – Glendale Review

Intelli-School opened their Glendale charter school campus in 2003 and on average have 150 students enrolled in grades 9th through 12th. The school provides an alternative to regular school in that students can choose their session, which consists of 4-hour days. The curriculum is computer driven which allows students to work at their own pace.

Intelli School offers a unique learning environment so all students can achieve their goals. The school offers programs for special education, students with learning disabilities, and those that are at risk of quitting or not graduating from high school.

The one thing to remember is that this school specializes in helping students that are doing well in regular school. The only complaint is that the curriculum is almost all on computers and the interaction between classmates is not present. The school does not offer any extracurricular activities, sports, or clubs for students to join. The school only works toward ensuring students receive their high school diploma.

Most parents expressed that they are very happy with the school and staff, while a few are not happy with the computer driven curriculum. The AIMS series of tests have students at this school performing below average in reading and writing, with only 7% of students passing the exam in math. With the Stanford 10 exam, students at the school performed better in math with 41% passing, but only 15% in reading and 14% in language.

If your child is falling behind in credits or is considering dropping out of school, this may be a good choice. On the other hand, since it is computer driven, the student will be required to study and learn independently. Before enrolling your child, it would be best to tour the school, talk with teachers, and other parents to learn more about the courses and if students are actually learning.
