Insight School of California-North Bay opened in 2008 for students in grades 9th through 12th. The curriculum is based upon core subjects with strong programs focused on the individual needs and strengths of each student.

This school has a unique approach to teaching. It uses innovative online classes that provide each student a sense of independence and flexibility to reach their greatest potential. The school offers students the abilities to explore different career paths right online.

The reviews for Insight School of California-North Bay are mixed. Some parents have had concern for the lack of teacher support, the work does not reflect what a high school student should be learning and the online environment does not work for everyone. The test scores were also another concern, as they were low. One parent stated how much she loved the teachers and appreciated the unique curriculum. Students on the other hand, enjoy going to school at home.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

For the students at Insight School of California-North Bay the test results showed scores that were lower than the state averages. This occurred in all grades and all subjects.

The California Exit Exam showed mixed results. The English Language Arts exam had 90% of students that passed with the state at 83%. In Math, the score was below the state’s 84%.

Test scores are a concern at this school and the curriculum is one that is not for every student. Before enrolling your child, you should determine if your child is one that can work independently and if the curriculum will help your child reach their goals.
