Imboden Area Charter School Review

Imboden Area Charter School provides students in kindergarten through 8th grades with a quality education. The school opened in August of 2002 to serve students in the area with an alternative to traditional school settings. Imboden Area Charter School offers a challenging curriculum based on the Baldridge Criteria, which includes technology integration into the assessment, instruction, and curriculum along with differentiated learning, multiage grouping, and parent involvement. At this time, the school serves students in kindergarten through 8th grades.

The small class size and dedicated teachers are the main reasons parents choose this school. Parents expressed how much the school and teachers are helping their students succeed. The teachers work with students on an individualized basis where students can excel. Instead of grouping students by age, the school has a multiage setting where students are placed according to their skills. This helps students succeed and learn at a pace in which they are comfortable instead of feeling like they are falling behind the rest of the class. Teachers are readily available for any student that may need extra help. The only downside of the school is that it does not offer any extra curricular activities, sports, or student clubs, not even physical education classes. Field trips are often used to emphasize different lessons, which are providing students with hands on learning, which is fun and exciting to students.

In the state of Arkansas, students are required to take the Benchmark exam, which measures if students are mastering literacy, science, and math. Students at Imboden Area Charter School participated in the exams with most grades being average or above average when compared to state averages. A few grades were below average or the results were not published to the public at this time.

It would be in your best interest to learn more about the curriculum and to ensure that the school fits your family and your child. Talking with other parents, administration, and staff will help you make an educated decision if the school is the best option for your child.
