Hickman Elementary School Review

Hickman Elementary School opened in 1994 to provide an alternative from traditional schools for students in kindergarten through 5th grades. The school offers a variety of educational options that include distance learning, home study, and classroom studies. The school blends the best online classes with on-site classes to help create a more personal learning experience. The school offers small class rooms with teachers that are dedicated in seeing students excel.

Along with core subjects, Hickman Elementary School offers extra curricular activities, which include Elementary G.A.T.E., running club, and band.

The majority of parents stated that Hickman Elementary School provides a small school setting with teachers that care about the school, students, and community. Other parents expressed they would like to see more extra curricular activities especially sports. Students are excited about going to school, but did mention they would like to have a few more things to like baseball.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decline in academic growth from 876 to 853. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Hickman Elementary School was mainly above state averages in most grades and subjects. Examples include 60% of 3rd graders passed the English Language Arts with the state average at 48%, 74% of 4th graders passed the math exam with the state average at 71%, and 48% of 2nd graders passed English Language Arts with the state average at 58%.

The school is doing an excellent job providing students with a quality education with small class sizes. It would still be a good idea to talk with other parents to ensure the school is a good fit for your family.
