Havasu Preparatory Academy Review

Havasu Preparatory Academy is a public charter school that opened in Lake Havasu City in 2011 for students in kindergarten through 8th grades. The school works with each student as an individual instead of as a group to ensure all students have the opportunity to reach their goals.

The curriculum includes core subjects along with an amazing amount of foreign languages available using the Rosetta Stone Online learning with languages such as Arabic, Cantonese, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, and Tagalog, to name a few. Electives include domestic arts, yearbook, journalism, street law, creative writing, mythology, and American novels. Not only does the school offer such a wide array of courses but also extra curricular activities including band, chorus, theater, painting, and computer arts. Students can also join clubs such as science & technology, yearbook, newspaper, and student council.

Parents love the school as it offers small class sizes and block hours. The teachers are rated excellent due to their caring and mentoring to each student. Some parents expressed that the school has a safe environment that does not tolerate misbehavior or bullying but handles each situation in a nurturing manner. The main reason parents love the school is that teachers and staff instill in students that character comes first and treating others as you want to be treated is of the utmost importance.

Students at Havasu Preparatory School participated in the AIMS series of tests. The students in 10th grade showed percentages that were higher than the state average in reading, writing, science, and math in some cases 20% higher.

The school is one that offers a great learning environment that is more like family but also a challenging curriculum that ensures students succeed and are prepared to join the workforce or enroll in a higher learning facility upon graduation.
