Guajome Learning Center Review

Guajome Learning Center opened in 2011 for students in 6th through 12th grades. The school offers a variety of learning methods including the IB Middle Years Programme for grades 6-10 and an optional IB Diploma Programme for grades 11-12. Along with this, several honors and Advanced Placement courses are available as well as project-based learning; the Arts program; advanced technology; college preparation counseling; and career counseling and preparation. Students also have the option of a dual enrollment in high school and a local community college. Guajome Learning Center provides small class sizes as well as great communication between staff, teachers, and parents.

The extra curricular activities are known as After School Enrichment programs. Examples of programs available include drumline, drama, choir, and orchestra.

Parents expressed they are very happy that the school is in their area and is providing a quality education for their students. The learning methods and opportunities are more appealing than what they found in traditional schools in the area. Students in both middle school and high school said the teachers are very helpful and devoted to helping them succeed. High school students love the option of dual enrollment.

The Academic Performance Index was not available at the time of this writing. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams were not available at this time.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. The results of these exams were not readily available.

With the comments of parents and students, the school is providing the educational tools and great opportunities for students to learn and to grow. It would be best if you visited the school and learned more about the results of the exams before enrolling your child.
