Frontier Elementary School is a charter school that opened in 2008 to provide families in Hanford and the surrounding areas with an alternative to traditional school settings. The school does use a traditional school format but provides a personal learning style with small class sizes that works with students on a personal level to ensure each student succeeds.
Along with core subjects, the school offers painting, computer arts, physical education classes, track, and academic contests.
Most parents are very pleased with the classrooms that offer all kinds of teaching aids that help students be interested in learning. Teachers work with students individually to help them grow and learn. The only complaints were that the school does not offer enough extra curricular activities or after school programs. Students said they like their teachers and learning.
The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 869 to 875. The goal statewide is a score of 800.
The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Frontier Elementary School was above state averages across all grade levels and all subjects.
The school is doing an excellent job providing students with a quality education and the resources needed to help them become life long learners. To ensure the school is best for your child, you should visit the school and talk with teachers to learn more about the curriculum and the learning environment.
