Excellence and Justice in Education (EJE) Middle Academy Review

Excellence and Justice in Education (EJE) Middle Academy opened in 2009 to provide a unique learning environment for students in 5th through 8th grades with an environment that is a teacher-directed program, based on a balanced bi-literacy approach in reading and language arts. The dual language program is providing students a better understanding.

Along with core subjects, Excellence and Justice in Education (EJE) Middle Academy provides extra curricular activities including art, ballet, folklorico, soccer, SonShine Club, and Zumba.

Parents are glad the school opened in their community and allow them to have an alternative to traditional schools. Most parents expressed they really enjoy the way in which their children are receiving a quality education. Teachers are very helpful and the school is safe. Students stated they like their teachers and the schoolwork, however, more extra-curricular activities would be added bonus.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 807 to 832. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Excellence and Justice in Education (EJE) Middle Academy was mixed with some being above and others being below average. Examples include 71% of 6th graders passed the English Language Arts exam with the state average at 59% while 37% of 8th graders passed the History exam with the average at 52%.

Excellence and Justice in Education (EJE) Middle Academy is providing an exceptional learning environment that is preparing students for high school and beyond. To learn more about the school it would be a good idea to take a tour.
