Everest Public High School Review

Everest Public High School opened in 2009 as a charter school providing students with a challenging curriculum of advanced placement courses in five subjects. Students are expected to achieve mastery and to pass all grade level exams and assessments. Everest Public High School provides a college prep curriculum with a variety of teaching methods including research based, backwards planning, differentiated instruction, and project based learning.

At this time, the school does not offer any extra curricular activities, student clubs, or sports.

Most parents explained that teachers and staff are not only dedicated but are very professional. The entire school works together as a team to ensure that all students receive the best education in a safe learning environment. Students expressed the courses are not easy but are very challenging. Students also stated they like the school better than previous schools attended.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decline in academic growth from 829 to 825. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams Everest Public High School was mainly above average except for 10th grade Algebra II with 31% passing the exam and the state average at 42% and 11th grade high school math with 24% passing the exam and the state average at 49%.

Everest Public High School is providing students with an exceptional education that is preparing them for college. The quality education and resources used is helping students enter colleges and universities while being prepared for the rigorous curriculum.
