Community Charter Middle School Review

The Community Charter Middle School is part of Partnerships to Uplift Communities that opened their doors in 1999 for students in 6th through 8th grades. The network of schools strives to develop charter schools in densely populated communities to help students achieve success and receive a quality education.

Along with core subjects, Community Charter Middle School offers computer arts, dance, band, film production, drama, drawing, physical education classes, basketball, soccer, cheerleading, football, and softball. Other programs student can join include science & technology, debate, community service, multimedia, yearbook, newspaper, academic contests, and student government.

Parents expressed that every adult at the school from teachers to office staff encourage students to be successful. The school is small which helps create a safe and nurturing learning environment. Parents are involved and work with teachers and administration to ensure students are provided with the best available educational tools. Students expressed they like going to the school with smaller class sizes, nice teachers, and fun activities.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 837 to 868. The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams was above average across all grade levels and courses with many percentages in the 80% and 90%.

The school is providing an excellent education that is providing students with the tools they need to be prepared for high school and beyond. It would still be a good idea to tour the school to ensure the learning environment is one that will help your child excel.
