Celerity Octavia Charter Review

Celerity Octavia Charter opened in 2010 for students in kindergarten through 8th grades. The school provides a quality education with a curriculum that focuses on group-based learning. The network of Celerity Octavia Charter Schools uses this type of learning environment, which has proven to provide students with a safe environment that helps them excel.

At this time, Celerity Octavia Charter does not offer any extra curricular activities, sports, or student clubs.

The majority of parents are very happy with the staff, teachers, and the school overall. On the other hand, a few teachers complained that the school does not supply enough materials. Most parents stated that their children are doing much better here than at other schools when it comes to academics. These parents also stated that the school is safe and that all students are treated equal and given individual attention when needed. Students expressed they enjoy going to school but would like to see more activities for them to join.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decrease in academic growth from 935 to 895.

The California Standards Tests are given to students to learn if they are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students that passed the exams was mainly above state averages with only a few being below average.

Even though the academic performance index showed the school dropped in performance and a few grades had lower percentages of students passing the exams at average, the school is still doing a better job than other schools in the area. If you have concerns, you should talk with other parents and staff to see if they can provide an answer to the drop in academic performance and lower tests scores from previous years.
