Castlemont Elementary Review

Castlemont Elementary is a tuition free public charter school in Campbell providing an education to students in kindergarten through 5th grades. The school provides a bilingual curriculum, which was needed in the community. The school works individually with students to ensure that each student can and will succeed while working along with community and parents.

Along with core subjects, Castlemont Elementary provides extra curricular activities, which include drama, band, drawing, chorus, and sculpture. Sports offered include soccer, martial arts, physical education classes, and basketball. The school also has other programs students can join such as academic contests and student council.

Parents are glad that the school has provided an alternative to traditional schools. Many stated that their children are doing very well and everyone at the school is very nice and helpful. Only a few stated that the principal is a bit too busy running the school to answer their calls, however, they had nothing bad to say about the school. Most students expressed they enjoy going to school and all teachers every helpful.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 824 to 827.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students that passed the exams were above state averages except for 3rd grade English Language Arts with 43% passing the exam with the state average at 48%.

The school is doing an excellent job providing students with a quality education as well as the social skills needed to achieve their goals. Of course, it would be a good idea to take a tour to ensure the school is a good fit for your child before enrolling.
