Canyon Rose Academy Review

Canyon Rose Academy opened in 2003 in Tucson to provide a quality education for students in 9th through 12th grades. The school provides a college preparatory curriculum that expects students to perform at the highest levels to achieve their goals. The school offers both gifted and honor programs with the main focus on technology to aid students in becoming leaders of society whether they go forth in the workforce or attend college. The student body encompasses 44% white, 44% Hispanic, 8% black, and 4% unspecified, which provides a diverse cultural environment, which provides a varied learning experience.

Along with the emphasis on college preparatory core subjects, Canyon Rose Academy also offers extra curricular activities, which include theater, painting, photography, and computer arts, along with special programs like yearbook and community service. There are a few vocational programs available as well including technology and professional childcare & development. The school does not offer any type of sports teams.

Reviews of the school are all positive with parents excited about the progress their children have been able to accomplish while attending the Canyon Rose Academy. The curriculum is vigorous and challenging. Teachers and staff are there for each student to ensure they excel. With the strict courses and program many students can actually graduate early. Students learn to be responsible for their own decisions, their homework, and their goals.

In the state of Arizona, all 10th graders attending a public school including public charter schools are required to participate in the AIMS exam. Students in 10th grade must pass or exceed the standards of the exam in order to graduate from high school. The percentages of 10th graders that passed or exceeded the exam along with the state averages are listed below.

In reading, 73% of students passed or exceeded the exam with the state average at 78%, in science 26% with the state at 42%, in writing 50% with the state average at 68%, and in math 29% with the state at 60%.

Before enrolling in the school, it would be in your best interest to learn more about the AIMS test results and the curriculum since the reviews are quite different from what the test results are displaying.
