Candeo Schools – Peoria Review

Candeo Schools opened their Peoria charter school campus in 2008. On average, they have an enrollment of 242 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The school offers a quality education using Core Knowledge curriculum, which is based on gifted and high performance.

The campus of Candeo Schools in Peoria offers a cafeteria, garden, computer room, gym, playground, and has an access to sports fields. Along with core subjects, the school offers a variety of extra curricular activities including orchestra, choir, instrumental music lessons, dance, painting, photography, sculpture, band, computer arts, and clubs such as newspaper, gardening, student council, science & technology and yearbook. The sports available are flag football, softball, basketball, soccer, baseball, football, cheerleading, martial arts, gymnastics, and physical education classes.

The school has mixed reviews mainly due to the curriculum. All parents and students are very pleased with the staff and teachers. Teachers are caring and work on a one to one basis to help children excel. The curriculum is advanced with Singapore Math, which is the concern for some parents, as Singapore Math is not used in all higher grades at other schools, thus the reason for concerns. However, students are excelling in all classes with the college preparatory classes. Gifted classes are excellent, challenging students to perform at higher levels with homework being specific and detailed.

Parents are willing to drive from other cities in the area to Candeo Schools in Peoria just to have their child attend this school. Since the school has a high demand in enrollment, there is a long waiting list.
