Camelback Academy Review


Camelback Academy opened their doors in 2002 for students in kindergarten through sixth grades. The average enrollment is 375 students per year. The school prides itself on providing a family oriented environment that instills high moral values, character development as well as a quality educationally facility. The school uses back to basics standards with their academic approach.

Along with core subjects, Camelback Academy offers a few extra curricular activities as well including theater, computer arts, yearbook, student government, and science & technology. Sports available at the school include basketball, baseball, physical education classes, football, volleyball, and soccer

Parents have nothing but good reviews about Camelback Academy. They are very pleased with the curriculum, the teachers, and the staff. The atmosphere is nurturing with caring teachers that show students they are important and help each child succeed. Special need students are treated with the same respect as other students as well as provided with educational opportunities to help them excel.

In the state of Arizona, the AIMS series of exams are given to students in certain grades throughout the state that attend public schools as well as public charter schools. Students at Camelback Academy participated in the exams. Percentages of students that passed or exceeded the standards set forth by the state are listed below with the average of students that passed or exceeded the exam across the state.

In reading, 65% of 3rd graders passed or exceeded the exam with the state average at 76%, in writing 63% with the state average at 79%, and in math 43% with the state at 68%.

In reading, 85% of 4th graders passed or exceeded the standards with the state average at 75%, in science 75% with the state at 60%, in writing 80% with the state at 83%, and in math 69% with the state at 65%.

In reading, 76% of 5th graders passed or exceeded the exam with the state average at 79%, in writing 50% with the state at 55%, and in math 58% with the state at 63%.
In reading, 85% of 6th graders passed or exceeded the AIMS exam with the state average at 81%, in writing 62% with the state at 56%, and in math 56% with the state at 59%.
