Bay Area School of Enterprise Review

Bay Area School of Enterprise opened in 2001 as a charter high school using a curriculum that is project based with a hands-on approach. The school offers personalized attention, small classrooms, real world experiences, social action projects, community involvement, challenging college prep curriculum, and certificate training.

Along with core subjects, Bay Area School of Enterprise offers extra curricular activities, which include film production, computer arts, sculpture, and painting. The school does not offer any type of sports. Other programs offered include student council, multimedia, yearbook, and science & technology. The vocational program available is professional child care and development.

Students enjoy going to school and learning the importance of responsibility and community involvement. Parents expressed just how much the staff and teachers work with each student individually and provide a very safe environment. Parents and students alike agree that teachers go beyond to listen and help every student so they can reach their goals and grow academically and socially. The curriculum is challenging which is great for the majority of the students.

The Academic Performance Index did not show any growth at all and was in fact lower than the base line. The percentage of students that passed the California Standards Tests was quite a bit below state average across all grades and all core subjects. The percentage of students that passed the California High School Exit Exam was below average as well.

Before enrolling your child in the school, it would be a good idea to learn more about the test results and the curriculum. Of course, if the school is a good, fit for your family and your child is comfortable at the school; this may be the best reason to enroll your child. You cannot judge a school only by the test scores.
