Aspire Alexander Twilight Secondary Academy Review

Aspire Alexander Twilight Secondary Academy opened in 2010 under the Aspire Public School network. The school serves students in 6th through 9th grades in the Sacramento area. The Aspire Public Schools is rated among the top performing schools in the US providing mainly low-income families with an alternative to traditional schools.

Every student attending the school will meet the requirements to enter a four-year college or university and obtain a college education. The school operates within the Aspire network of schools that are located across the nation. One of the programs that has brought much success to the schools is the College for Certain education. In this program, there are 12,000 students in their 34 schools, which are 85% Black and Latino with 80% of student coming from low-income families.

The school offers highly qualified teachers that truly care about the future of their students and work with them on a one on one basis to help them succeed.

The school centers on core subjects that are taught using a variety of teaching methods. Students are taught on an individual basis with such strategies as apprenticeship, distributed practice, explicit instruction, massed practice, problem solving, inquire, and project based instruction.

The majority of parents are very glad that the Aspire Alexander Twilight Secondary Academy is available for their students. The school is providing a much needed educational environment where all students have the opportunity to learn and meet requirements that are needed to go on to college upon graduation of high school. The only complaint is the lack of extra curricular activities, sports, and student clubs.

The results of the California Standards Tests were quite a bit up and down according to the grade level and the course. Most were average or above average across the board. The Academic Performance Index showed that Aspire Alexander Twilight Secondary Academy had marked improvement in their academics from the prior year.

As will any decision you make for your child, it would be a good idea to take a tour of the school, talk with administration, and teachers to learn if the school is a good fit before enrolling your child.
