Arroyo Vista Charter School Review

Arroyo Vista Charter School opened in 1999 for students in kindergarten through 6th grades. The curriculum of the school is based on the State Content Standards and provides the tools necessary for all students to meet or exceed their grade level standards. The school offers small class sizes with caring and devoted teachers and staff that want every student to succeed. The school has on average around 900 students per year enrolled.

The school does not mention any extra curricular activities, sports, or student clubs for students to join. However, the school does offer a dual immersion program, which helps students excel. The school provides a strict learning environment that expects excellence from not only students but also staff and teachers as well. Bullying and other unacceptable behavior is not tolerated. Teachers are highly dedicated and caring while working with students on a more personal level due to the small class size.

Parents are very happy with the progress of their children and love the teachers. The school provides a caring, safe, and family style community atmosphere where students can enjoy learning. Most parents expressed that the involvement of other parents and the community is perfect which also helps with the unique feel of the school. A few parents were concerned about a bit of bullying during recess time that was not addressed by teachers and a bit of favoritism was also noted. Overall, the majority of parents all had positive comments and highly recommend the school. The only other complaint was that the school does not offer extra curricular activities.

Not too many schools receive above state average across all grades and all courses, but Arroyo Vista Charter School made the list. Some of the grade levels even scored 20% above state averages. With the positive comments from parents and the tests results, the school is doing a great job of providing the educational needs of the students. It would still be wise to visit the school and take a tour to make sure you make the right decision for your child.
