Animo Westside Charter Middle opened in 2011 to serve students in 6th through 8th grades for the community of downtown Los Angeles and nearby communities. The school prepares students for their high school years as well as beyond with a college preparatory curriculum. The school offers a multi-cultural learning environment that encourages excellence while serving families that are diverse culturally, racially, and socio-economically providing a multi-cultural small school environment. The school is part of the Green Dot School system that expects high quality standards from its teachers, staff, and students while encouraging parent involvement.

Along with core subjects the school offers tutoring, guitar, driver’s education gaming, weight lifting, boxing, cheering, photography, anime, credit recovery, and Latin dance as after school programs.

Parents are quite pleased with the new campus that offers a caring, nurturing, and safe environment that Animo Westside Charter Middle has brought to their community. Students have the opportunity to grow not only academically but also socially. The school helps students learn responsibility while encouraging them to do their best. Bullying and other violent behavior is not tolerated, thus the reason most students are doing very well. The small class size is also a great addition where students can make friends and feel more secure.

Students are improving academically after enrolling in Animo Westside Charter Middle when compared to other schools in the area. The school is doing very well providing an excellent education by blending technology in the curriculum and working with each student on a personal basis. Parents are becoming more involved in the school, which is encouraged, by staff and teachers.
