Animo Leadership Charter High School was opened in 2000 by Green Dot Public Schools for students in 9th through 12th grades. The school centers are preparing students to attend college upon graduating from high school with a college prep curriculum that blends technology with core subjects.

The school offers small class size so students can focus on their schoolwork as well as have the attention they need to achieve their goal of graduation. The curriculum focuses on bi-literacy, technology, and self-awareness. The school supports families as well as students with a safe and encouraging learning environment. Students learn the importance of learning thus becoming life long learners with social responsibility and productive members of society.

Along with core subjects, Animo Leadership Charter High School offers other activities including sports such as football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and softball. Student clubs include yearbook, student council, and science & technology. Vocational programs available include health careers, law enforcement, professional childcare, and agriculture. After school programs include zumba fitness, marine biology, music production, breakfast club, tutoring, photography, hands on design, French, drivers ed, leadership council, Los Politicos, math tutoring, SAT preparation course, Super Tutors, CAHSEE boot camp, acting, drop in center, and journalism.

Students expressed that the teachers at Animo Leadership Charter High School are very dedicated to the school and to their students. The students explained that the school works with each student to help them be able to enter college as well as being prepared for the college life. Some students went so far to say that teachers never give up on students and help them all the way. Parents are very happy with the various programs the school offers including the tutoring program. The teachers and staff truly believe in the school and the students and work to ensure that all students have the educational tools they need to succeed.

A look at the results of the California Standards tests may help you make a decision if the school is doing a good job providing a quality education for students. Results showed that most grade levels across all courses were pretty close to average even if they were below average it was only a small percentage. However, most were above average by quite a large percentage.
