Alder Grove Charter School opened in 2006 for students in kindergarten through 12th grades. The school offers support for parents that have decided to home school their children. The school offers all the educational tools needed including on site classes, field trips, and testing. Staff and teachers work with parents and students to help them create an individualizes learning plan that will also meet the standards set forth by the state while ensuring students can choice subjects of interest. Education options found at Alder Grove Charter School include support for home schoolers, self-directed project based learning, enrichment classes for kindergarten through 6th grades, small core classes for students in 7th through 12th grades, math lab, language arts lab, computer learning, community vendors, assessment and testing.

Along with this, the school offers extra curricular activities, which include drama, computer arts, ceramics, painting, gymnastics, crew, martial arts, and swimming.

Parents that have chosen to home school their children are very pleased with the support the Alder Grove Charter School offers. The teachers and staff are very helpful and work with families to ensure their children are receiving the best possible education as well as the most up to date educational tools to help them succeed. Students enjoy the ability to choose many of the subjects they can study as well as receive the help they need from qualified teachers when subject matter is a bit difficult. Being able to learn at home but have the support needed when questions arise is the main reason that parents have chosen Alder Grove Charter School.

When it comes to the California Standards Tests across the grade levels and course, the results were mainly below state averages. However, the Academic Performance Index showed growth in test performance and the results of the California High School Exit Exam were above state average.
