Academic/Vocational Charter Institute Review

Academic/Vocational Charter Institute opened in 1999 to provide an alternative to traditional school settings. The founders realize that children learn differently, thus, their educational program is designed to ensure that all students can achieve a quality education within their learning style. The school limits the number of students that can attend the school as well as being selective, this ensures that the school can and will provide an exceptional education to all students ensuring that every student will receive the personal attention they need to reach their goals. The charter high school on average has 63 students in grades 9th through 12th per year.

Students that attend Academic Vocational Charter Institute not only receive a high school diploma but also a vocational certificate in Business & Technology or Computer Aided Design & Manufacturing, work experience, and scholarships to affiliate colleges.

The teachers are dedicated and work closely with students to ensure their success in a safe and nurturing environment. Parents are very pleased with the success of the school and their children. The school has helped many students learn the importance of responsibility as well as becoming life long learners.

In the state of California, the California Standards Tests are used to measure students in English language arts for students in 2nd through 11th grades; science for grades 5th, 8th, and 10th; math in grades 2nd through 7th; and history/social science in grades 8th and 11th. Students in middle school also take tests in science and math.

Results of the majority of the tests are not published. The ones that have results show students at Academic Vocational Charter Institute scoring below average in all core classes.

It would be in your best interest to learn more about the curriculum before enrolling your child as the test scores are very low. Of course, receiving a vocational certificate is a very good option for high school students that are working at receiving their high school diploma and a vocational certificate.
