Population Ecology

  • Population ecology is the study of the interactions of a population and its environment. Population ecology helps us understand and predict the behavior of populations—from bacteria to humans.

  • In this Lesson, we’ll look at the spatial and age distributions of organisms that make up the characteristics of a population. We’ll see how exponential and logistic models are used to predict the growth of populations.

  • And we’ll investigate how populations are regulated by both density-dependent and density-independent factors.
