Animal Development

  • Animal development proceeds from the union of an egg cell and a sperm cell to the formation of an adult organism.

  • The important processes involved in development are fertilization, cell division and growth, the formation of different cell types, and the shaping of structures that characterize the organism.

  • In this Lesson we'll explore these processes using the amphibian embryo. We'll also look at development in the human embryo from implantation to the formation of the mature fetus.
