An Introduction to the Animals

• Animals are a natural source of fascination for people. The animals we encounter in our daily lives move about us and often have complex behaviors that can affect us directly. And let’s not forget that we ourselves are members of the animal kingdom.

• But most of the animals in the environment escape our detection. Many live in the oceans, and many others are too small to see, or are hidden in soil or in the bodies of other creatures.

• In this Lesson, we’ll get an introduction to the entire animal kingdom starting with some of the simplest animals. We’ll also examine the basic characteristics that distinguish animals from all other forms of life.
